The hike to the abandoned settlements of Wadi Bih, including Ghabas and Shamal, offers an accessible yet rewarding adventure for beginner to intermediate hikers. This relatively steady hike features gentle elevation gains and takes you through the rugged beauty of Wadi Bih, a valley known for its historical significance and dramatic mountain views. The trail weaves past cliff-side remnants of old villages, where traditional stone houses and terraced farms still stand, offering a glimpse into the past lives of the people who once called these settlements home.
As you progress, the path remains manageable, with occasional moderate ascents and rocky sections that keep the hike interesting. The cliffside ruins, set against the backdrop of towering peaks and deep valleys, provide stunning photo opportunities and a sense of tranquility. The hike is perfect for those looking to explore Ras Al Khaimah’s history while enjoying a relatively easy but immersive mountain experience.
