The Al Minazif to Hatta Expedition is one of the longest single-day challenges in the Trans Emirates Trail series, spanning nearly 34 km across Sharjah, Ras al Khaimah, and Dubai. It is a demanding route designed only for seasoned trekkers ready to endure a long day on foot through valleys, canyons, and rugged mountain ascents.
The journey begins at Al Minazif, crossing into the wide-open plains near Al Helo and Huwaylat, where sprawling valleys stretch as far as the eye can see. The terrain alternates between broad gravel wadis and tighter, winding canyons, forcing trekkers to adapt their pace and footing constantly.
From here, the route transitions toward the dramatic Wadi Al Qor, a landscape carved by seasonal floods, with dry riverbeds cutting deep between jagged limestone walls. Trekkers will pass remnants of old farming terraces and scattered stone dwellings, reminders of the communities that once survived in this harsh environment.
The expedition culminates with a final, punishing ascent over Jabal Ruwayshid before descending toward Hatta Wadi Hub. This final stretch is steep and unforgiving, demanding stamina and mental resilience after an already long day on the trail. The reward: panoramic views of the Hajar Mountains giving way to the oasis town of Hatta, with its fort, wadis, and vibrant hub for mountain adventurers.
