We are excited to continue our cultural hike series this season, that will visit a variety of sites in the UAE, from Fujairah to Sharjah, where you will walk through some familiar sites as well as hidden gems only known to the local community.
You will be guided by a local architect expert, Salama Alhammadi, as well as other community experts and partners, who will share their archeological knowledge and explain the importance of these sites that include petroglyphs, early settlements and villages. We will be visiting anthropologically significant areas including places where our ancestors from Africa were thought to have settled in the middle east; in none other than in the Emirates we now know as Sharjah.
Through these hikes, we will explore architecture, archaeology, and history, diving into topics like materials, settlement formations, and cultural practices that make this region of the world an important part of human history.
Our first hike of the series took place in February 2025 at Wadi Saham and Wadi Bih in Ras Al Khaimah and will continue this 2025-2026 season from October 2025 onwards.
