Forge ahead with ECC Adventures on a two-day overnight journey through the forgotten trails of the Western Hajar Mountains (Al-Ḥajar Al-Gharbī). This route explores the rugged Baqal area of Wadi Naqab, ascends the towering Jebel Mebrah (UAE’s fourth tallest peak), and culminates at the caves of Sheria in Fujairah. With camping at Tala Village, this advanced-level expedition blends endurance, cultural immersion, and mountain wilderness.
Day 1
We begin at sunrise from Baqal in Wadi Naqab, following steep climbs and rugged pathways toward Tala Village. Along the route, we pass remnants of traditional settlements and terraced fields, with commanding views of the valley. The trail challenges hikers with rocky ascents and sustained elevation gain, leading to our overnight camp at Tala Village. Here, we rest beneath the stars and immerse in the cultural and natural atmosphere of the mountains.
Day 2
From Tala, the expedition continues toward Jebel Mebrah’s summit zone. The route navigates rugged wadis, limestone shelves, and technical scrambles before beginning a gradual descent into Fujairah. The journey passes through remote villages and abandoned homesteads, offering glimpses of traditional life in the mountains. The final descent leads to the caves of Sheria, a striking geological feature and fitting conclusion to this demanding but rewarding expedition.
