Oman’s Snake Gorge Canyon - 2-day Adventure Getaway
Cool off during this year’s Arabian summer with a thrilling adventure into one of Oman’s favourite hiking trails.
As the name suggests Snake Gorge also known as Wadi Bimah and locally called Seer Al Zamah, is a winding trail of striking gorges that bend, twist and plunge deep into the canyon.
We start off easy on Day 1 with a short exploratory hike and easy & quick dips into the canyon pools. On Day 2 we put on our dare-devil shoes and will be scaling the entire length of the canyon trail by scrambling, exhilarating abseiling through narrow rock openings and cliff jumps into rocky pools and eventually swim towards the exit.

Day 1
Easy to Moderate (depending on short hike or light canyoning). Wadi Bani Awf Exploration (Light Hike Option)
- Approximately 1.5-2.0 hours long
- Short exploration of Snake Gorge entrance areas or optional half Snake Canyon route.
- Easy hike along canyon edges or short canyon swims and slides
Day 2
Moderate to High (swimming, abseiling, scrambling). Full Snake Gorge Canyoning (Long Valley Adventure)
- Approximately 5 hours long
- Full Snake Gorge canyoning: ~5 KM descent
- Two major rope descents (25 meters and 18 meters)
- Deep pools up to 8 meters
- Swimming stretches up to 50 meters
- Abseiling, scrambling, sliding, and optional cliff jumps
Itinerary
Day 1 – Travel + Afternoon Activity
5:00 AM: Depart Dubai
7:00 AM: Meet at Hatta Border (UAE side)
8:00 - 9:00 AM: Complete UAE exit / Oman entry
12:00 PM: Arrive at Snake Gorge area
1:00 - 3:00 PM: Light exploration of Snake Gorge (choose between short hike or short canyoning route)
4:00 PM: Set up camp / check-in to local guesthouse (optional)
6:30 PM: Dinner and overnight rest
Day 2 – Full Snake Gorge Canyoning:
6:00 AM: Breakfast and prep
7:00 AM: Safety briefing and gear fitting
8:00 AM: Start Long Valley Adventure canyon descent
1:00 PM: Complete canyon, vehicle pickup at exit
2:00 PM: Freshen up and prepare for return drive
8:00-9:00 PM: Arrival back at Hatta Border and then Dubai
Transport Options:
Self-Drive: 4x4 vehicle mandatory (essential for access to Wadi Bani Awf)
Optional Transport Add-On: Van service from Dubai to Oman and back (quoted separately based on group size)
Support vehicles: Organized for return pickup from canyon exit (included)
- Certified canyoning guides (Wilderness First Aid certified)
- Full safety equipment (helmets, harnesses, ropes, life jackets)
- Support for return transport from canyon exit to starting point
- Camp setup assistance (if camping) or guesthouse reservation assistance (optional extra)
- 2L bottled water for canyoning activity

- 3 month validity on your Emirates visa
- If you are self-driving please make sure to check that you have Oman vehicle insurance and that you are the owner of the vehicle. If not a a No Objection Certificate is required from your bank or financial institution.
- Light, quick-dry sports clothing
- Non-slip canyoning shoes / sturdy hiking water shoes
- 3+ Liters of water for travel days
- Snacks and light meals for travel and after activities

- Waterproof bag (small) for valuables during the canyoning section
