The Mangroves National Park
The Eastern Mangrove National Park is a protected reserve which serves as a crucial watershed for the emirates and a refuge for migratory birds. With its ability to root in harsh soil, capture CO2, and produce oxygen, these mangroves are also valuable in mitigating coastal erosion and fighting climate change.
Managed by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), this magnificent park covers almost 75% of the UAE’s mangrove forest area. Mangroves can usually be found between intertidal zones along tropical and subtropical coastlines worldwide.
The mangroves are a hub of biodiversity, featuring salt marshes, mudflats, and algal communities. During high tide, traverse the water channels in your kayak lush trees, and diverse wildlife, leaving you finding that intrinsic connection with nature that we tend to forget during the workweek.
