OUTDOOR SKILLS CERTIFICATIONS WITH ECCA
PROVIDED BY CERTIFIED TRAINER ALAN WARD
Provided by Alan Ward - International Mountain Leader
The outdoors is a unique learning space, where individuals learn both internally and externally about the natural world and our place within it. For those who wish to take others into these outdoor spaces, it is important that we are equipped to do so, keeping in mind all the risks and responsibilities in bringing groups out into areas more remote and prone to greater dangers.
Whether it is taking groups on international expeditions or simply exploring the wadi systems of the northern Emirates, having qualifications does a number of things for you as an individual and for the greater outdoor industry of the region:
- Become familiar with the necessary history and skills related to outdoor adventure programming
- Emphasize the need of instilling environmental ethics and multicultural accessibility in outdoor recreation.
- Learn both technical hard skills taught in the use of outdoor equipment and soft skills to effectively lead a group safely and harmoniously out of the backcountry
- Manage risks and emergency medical situations in areas of remote or limited access
- Help individuals strive to become their best selves through challenge, adversity, and determination
